Vector Press
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Vector Press (“we”, “us”) runs the vectorpress.io platform and publishes local newspapers, each at its own web address. This policy covers the platform itself, including the app we use to publish our newspapers’ stories to Facebook. Each newspaper’s readers are covered by that paper’s own privacy policy, at <newspaper address>/privacy (for example thetampajournal.com/privacy).
Our Facebook apps
We operate two Meta (Facebook) apps, both named “Vector Press”: one publishes our newspapers’ stories, as links and short videos, to the Facebook Pages we run for them, and one lets readers sign in to our newspapers with Facebook.
- When one of our administrators connects a newspaper’s Facebook Page, Facebook gives us an access token for that Page, along with the Page’s name, ID and web address. We store the token encrypted and use it only to post that newspaper’s stories and to check that the connection still works.
- When a reader chooses “Continue with Facebook” on one of our newspapers, Facebook shares their name, email address and Facebook user ID with that newspaper’s reader-account system. We use them only to sign the reader in. We don’t receive their friends list or posts, and we don’t keep their profile picture.
- We do not otherwise collect, store or analyze information about Facebook users, their friends, or the people who interact with our Pages.
- We do not sell data obtained through Facebook or share it with anyone else.
Our other publishing apps
We also publish our newspapers’ stories and short videos to accounts we own on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Bluesky. Only our staff connect these accounts, and only accounts that belong to our newspapers.
- YouTube. When we connect a newspaper’s channel, Google gives us tokens to upload videos to it and read its name. We store them encrypted and use them only to post that newspaper’s videos. Our use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- TikTok.When we connect a newspaper’s account, TikTok gives us tokens and the account’s display name. We store the tokens encrypted and use them only to send that newspaper’s videos to the account’s TikTok drafts, where the newspaper finishes each post in the TikTok app.
- Instagram posts go through the newspaper’s Facebook Page connection described above. Blueskyposts use an app password for the newspaper’s account, stored encrypted.
- We read follower counts for our own accounts to report on them. We don’t collect data about other people on these platforms, and we don’t sell or share what we hold.
Platform accounts
The vectorpress.io dashboard is used only by our own staff. For those accounts we store a name, email address and a password kept only as a one-way hash, plus a record of sign-ins for security.
Service providers
The platform runs on providers that process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (email), Stripe (payments for newspaper memberships), and Meta, Google (YouTube), TikTok and Bluesky for publishing. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Data deletion
You can have data we hold removed at any time:
- Facebook Pages. Removing the “Vector Press” app from a Page (in Facebook, under Settings → Business integrations) revokes our access immediately. Disconnecting a Page in our dashboard deletes its stored token. To have any remaining record of a Page deleted, email us.
- Facebook sign-in. To stop a newspaper from signing you in with Facebook, remove “Vector Press” in Facebook under Settings → Apps and websites, and sign out on the newspaper’s site. To delete the reader account itself, email us (below) from the address on your Facebook account; we delete it within 30 days and confirm by email.
- YouTube, TikTok and Bluesky. Disconnecting an account in our dashboard deletes its stored tokens. You can also revoke our access at Google in your Google Account’s connections, in TikTok under Settings and privacy → Security → Apps and services permissions, or in Bluesky under Settings → Privacy and security → App passwords.
- Anything else. Email adam@vectorpress.io with the subject “Data deletion request” and tell us what to delete (for example, the email address or Facebook Page involved). We delete it within 30 days and confirm by email.
- Newspaper readers. Reader accounts, newsletter subscriptions and comments are handled under each newspaper’s privacy policy; you can also email us and we will delete them.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
